Acts 18:1–4 The New International Version (NIV) 1 After this, Paul left Athens and went to Corinth. 2 There he met a Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, who had recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had ordered all Jews to leave Rome. Paul went to see them, 3 and because he was a tentmaker as they were, he stayed and worked with them. 4 Every Sabbath he reasoned in the synagogue, trying to persuade Jews and Greeks.
One thing we see Paul doing here is doing Tentmaking along his missionary journey. Not only was he doing Tentmaking, but he was working with his community. He was not merely working to provide the opportunity to do ministry, yet everything he did was done in the context of living out his faith. Whether he was working on tents or traveling preaching and teaching he always was living on mission.
I graduated from the University of West Florida with a degree in Graphic design, and I equate this as my "tent making." I initially went into this field knowing it was something I could do from anywhere in the world and would help provide an opportunity to work so I could also eat.
One of my most recent projects was to design a flyer to raise money for a ministry located in Kenya. It was a blessing to partner in this way and I love seeing the amazing things people are doing to enrich the lives of those around them!
